The HS2 Rail link has been slowly rolling along for many years, since 2009 in fact and is showing no signs of stopping any time soon with one of the largest UK infrastructure projects not planned for completion until 2033 at the earliest.
The numerous HS2 sites along the route have many regulations for any vehicle entering the sites to ensure the safety of both the workers and the equipment at the location. To be allowed to work on this project, vehicles over 3.5t must have:
- An audible left-turn warning alerts
- Blind spot elimination or minimisation products as far as practicable around the front, rear and sides of the vehicle
- Indirect vision aids and driver audible alerts (such as scanning and camera systems)
HS2 Blind Spot Driver Aids
HS2 Regulations state; “All vehicle aids shall comprise of Class IV, V and VI mirrors appropriate to the size of the vehicle and as a minimum, one of the following: Side scan detection system, Viewable camera system, Left-turn sensor system fitted to the vehicle front nearside, Collision avoidance system fitted to the vehicle front nearside.”
